She should not exist.

He should not love her.

Claire Brennan has been attending Emerson Academy for two years now (the longest she and her mom have remained anywhere) and she’s desperate to stay put for the rest of high school. So there’s no way she’s going to tell her mom about the psychic visions she’s been having or the creepy warnings that she’s in danger.

Alec MacKenzie is fed up with his duties to watch and, when necessary, eliminate the descendants of his angelic forefathers. He chose Emerson as the ideal hiding place where he could be normal for once. He hadn’t factored Claire into his plans. . . .

Their love is forbidden, going against everything Alec has been taught to believe. But when the reason behind Claire’s unusual powers is revealed and the threat to her life becomes clear, how far will Alec go to protect her?

On a Dark Wing by Jordan Dane Review

Name: On a Dark Wing
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: December 27th, 2011

Much thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for giving me an ARC copy of this book!

The choices I had made led to the moment when fate took over. I would learn a lesson I wasn't prepared for. And Death would be my willing teacher.

Five years ago, Abbey Chandler cheated Death. She survived a horrific car accident, but her "lucky" break came at the expense of her mother's life and changed everything. After she crossed paths with Death—by taking the hand of an ethereal boy made of clouds and sky—she would never be normal again.

Now she's the target of Death's ravens and an innocent boy's life is on the line. When Nate Holden—Abbey's secret crush—starts to climb Alaska's Denali, the Angel of Death stalks him because of her.

And Abbey finds out the hard way that Death never forgets.

My Review:
I really really wanted to like this book, but for some reason I could just not get into it. It was definitely a slow struggle reading this book, and once I finished it I was glad to be done.

When I first heard about this book and I read the plot description it seemed awesome! I thought, however, this book would go a certain way, but it went a totally different direction that I did not see at all.

At first, I was really captivated by this novel. The plot seemed really interesting and in the first few chapters I was really enjoying this novel. But, halfway through this book I seemed to hit a road block and it was really hard for me to finish this one.

I was not really a huge fan of the main character Abbey. At first, I was really interested by her and I was excited to see her character development throughout this book, but as the story progressed I was sad to see how her storyline progressed.

Overall, this book just didn't work for me. I just couldn't connect with the characters or the plot which made it really hard for me to get through. That being said, this book was very well written and I hope to see other books written by this author!

My Rating: Two out of Five Stars

Follow Friday # 11

Hi everyone! Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Okay so this Friday's question is:

Q: If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?

A: Ah this is a hard one! There are so many books that I want to spend an eternity in!

I would LOVE to be a student at Hogwarts and learn everything about magic and fly on a broom stick!

I would also love to be a part of one of Percy Jackson's awesome quests that he goes on in this series! I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology and I really enjoyed this series so I would love to be in it!

On another Greek mythology note, I would totally want to be in Starcrossed with Helen and Lucas! Being a scion sounds awesome.

Also, I really want to follow Anna and St. Clair around in Paris. Maybe I can meet an attractive foreign boy too :)

Well as you can tell I want to be in a bunch of awesome books!
What do you all think? What books would you like to spend an eternity in? Comment below and follow!

Audrey Hart the Dig Interview

Hi everyone! A few weeks ago I reviewed The Dig by Audrey Hart here on my blog and today I have her here for an interview! Check out my review here.

Can you tell us a little about your novel The Dig?

The Dig is the first book in a trilogy that follows outsider Zoe Calder on her travels through time to Ancient Greece where she discovers that she has special powers. She meets Zeus. Hello crush! And then she endures trials and heads to Mount Olympus with Zeus where she clashes with the clique of gods. They’re all pretty rankled by her budding relationship with Zeus. After all, where did this Zoe come from? Why does she have powers? At school, Zoe understands that her outsidery status is her own doing. But here, the tables are kind of turned. And ultimately, she learns a lot about her own power, the power that we all have, whether or not we can, you know, move actual mountains.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

Oooh, that’s a fun question. My favorite part is flow, when I feel like I’m actually there in the world I’m bring to life on the page. And I look up at the clock and realize that time has passed. When I was writing Zoe’s first venture into the vale of the nymphs, I had a great moment of flow. I love that moment when you sort of step back from the computer and go, whoa, you mean I’m not in a candy colored magical world right now?! And I have to say that my other favorite part is dialogue. I swear, I could actually hear Hera’s voice when I was writing the sit-down with Zoe. Kind of scary!

Where did you get the idea for this series?

Last year, I was lucky to visit the Minoan ruins in Crete. I was in awe of everything. Imagine, people lived here 4000 years ago. And I became so interested in the people who spend their lives hunting down these ruins. One afternoon, my iPhone buzzed and slipped out of my pocket. I gasped, thinking it had fallen between the cracks. And I freaked out and was really surprised about my reaction. Anyway, the next time I sat down to work on my first novel, I kept going over that moment in my head. And then I knew that I wanted to write about a girl who lost her phone in a symbolic way. That was my a-ha moment, I guess. I can tell a story about a girl who will learn that she’s not the disconnected person she thinks she is.

I know The Dig is the first of many in this series, how many books are you thinking of writing for The Dig?

The Dig is a trilogy, so there’s two more books on the way!

When will the next book be released?

Planning on an Spring 2012 release.

Do you plan on writing any other books in different genres?

No plans for my writing future at the moment past Zoe and Zeus at the moment, but who knows! Maybe I’ll take on vampires next…

What was your favorite book growing up and why?

I love Judy Blume because she’s funny and understands what girls go through as teenagers. I also love Barbara Kingslover. She has an amazing sense of adventure and pacing and her body of work is truly inspirational.

What is the best book that you have read this past year and why?

Recently, I’m obsessed with Hunger Games (just like you, no doubt).

Are there any books you would recommend to fellow bloggers and readers out there?

Franny and Zooey by JD Sallinger. Everyone thinks they have to read Catcher in the Rye, but I vote for Franny and Zooey.

Waiting on Wednesday 24: Wrecked

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine!

Name: Wrecked
Author: Anna Davies
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Release Date: May 1st, 2012

My Thoughts: Okay I really like the cover of this one! The colors are awesome and the guy on the cover is very attractive which is a bonus :)
The plot of this book sounds really interesting...and it is very mysterious and I can't wait to see what happens!

Miranda has lived on Whym Island since the death of her parents. She has taken comfort in its seclusion and in the folklore that claims a mysterious sea witch controls the fate of all on the island and its surrounding waters. It's just been easier to believe that things are out of her control.

But when a terrible boating accident takes the lives of several of her friends, Miranda is rescued by a mysterious boy that haunts her dreams. As the guilt of the accident consumes her, she finds refuge in her late night swims. Then, she meets Christian, a boy who seems so familiar, but won't tell her where he is from and why they can only meet at the beach. As Miranda falls for Christian and begins to put the accident behind her, she discovers that there are secrets that Christian is keeping to protect her that may only end up bringing her nothing but harm.

Aimee Agresti Illuminate Interview!

Hi everyone! Today I have the lovely Aimee Agresti here to answer a few questions about her upcoming book, Illuminate which comes out March 6th, 2012!

Can you tell us a little about your novel Illuminate?
Gladly! ILLUMINATE is about angels and devils, selling souls, saving souls, falling in love, and a teen girl's path from meek to mighty. My heroine, Haven, is a 16-year-old straight-A student/social outcast/angel-in-training who finds herself pitted against a pack of gorgeous devils on a soul-buying spree. Oh, and best of all, it takes place at a ritzy hotel in Chicago.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Nothing beats that feeling of having a really good writing day. When I got to the end of ILLUMINATE, those last 50 pages flowed out in a wild sort of frenzy. I've never run a marathon, but I imagine it's the same kind of adrenaline that kicks in on that last mile. It's exciting when you see everything you've plotted and planned falling into place. And, naturally, when I have one good day, I get superstitious and try to duplicate it the next day: I wear the same thing, eat the same things, write sitting in the same spot. I think I wore the same sweater for, like, a week writing that ending.

Where did you get the idea for this series?
I wanted to write the kind of books I would have loved as a teen, back when I had no confidence whatsoever and always turned to books to help me get through the madness of high school and the trials and tribulations of growing up. I wanted the series to be about a girl learning to believe in herself, someone who was smart and driven and destined for great things but who had to battle her own insecurities to get there. And, of course, she had to be an angel because who doesn't want to fly? Flying is just the ultimate metaphor for rising above whatever's bringing you down, right?!

I know Illuminate is the first of many in this series, how many books are you thinking of writing for Illuminate?
I'm planning on a trilogy and I've already finished a draft of the second book!

When will the next book be released?
Book Two in the Gilded Wings Trilogy should be out in 2013. Stay tuned!

Do you plan on writing any other books in different genres?
Good question! I love the YA world, and there's so much excitement and creativity and imagination happening on the paranormal/dystopian/fantasy bookshelves right now. I hope to be lucky enough to get to keep writing these kinds of stories because I've got a notebook full of glimmers of new ideas. But, at the same time, I have a book I've been dying to write that's outside that realm about a 20-something girl and her eclectic group of pals navigating their personal and professional lives. We'll see!

What was your favorite book growing up and why?
There were so, so, so many favorites from ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND to LITTLE WOMEN to THE WITCHES. But I absolutely devoured the entire NANCY DREW series, and couldn't get enough. I don't know how many books there were but I swear I must've read 'em all. I just loved Nancy. I wanted to BE her: so smart and confident and independent. And she was always somehow solving these crazy mysteries that no one else could figure out. I still reread them every now and then!

What is the best book that you have read this past year and why?
Oh no! That's too tough! I have to give a few! STARCROSSED by Josephine Angelini was fantastic: that mix of magic and mythology was so brilliant and her heroine, Helen, becomes such a force to be reckoned with. I love strong girls! I can't wait for DREAMLESS. And I adored SPELLBOUND by Cara Lynn Shultz. The love story made the pages absolutely fly by. And THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern was some truly stunning storytelling.

Are there books you would recommend to fellow bloggers and readers out there?
Oooh, I've got a good one! I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at SPELLCASTER--the sequel to SPELLBOUND--and it's wonderful. I didn't realize just how much I missed Brendan and Emma until I was back in their world again. And there are all sorts of new twists and turns in this one. It's out in March. You'll love it!

Thanks so much Aimee for answering all of my questions! I hope everyone out there is excited to read this amazing book!

Follow Friday # 10

Hi everyone! Follow Friday is hosted by Alison can Read and Parajunkee!

I hope everyone has had a great week! I know I did :)

Anyways, Today's question is:

Q: When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)

A: Most of the books I get are from the library so they have to go back when I am finished with them! But when I do buy a book, I usually give it to a friend to read and then put it in my expanding book case :)

So what do you do with your books when you are finished with them? Follow me and comment below!

314 pages

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy.
-Goodreads

My Review:
What a fun read! I really enjoyed reading this book especially since I haven't read many about reincarnation! I now want to read more!!! One of my favorite parts of this book definitely was the whole reincarnation aspect! Drew and Lizzie reminded me so much of famous romance characters such as Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth (when you read the book you will see where I am coming from!)
I also liked seeing the romance part of this book, it takes awhile for the Lizzy to figure out what she wants but when she does, it's amazing! I was cheering for her all the way till the end!

I am happy to report that this book is the first in a series so I can't wait for more! I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a great, fun read!

My Thoughts:
I recently heard about this book last week and I am now SUPER excited for it!! I absoultely LOVE the cover! The colors are amazing and I love the faded wings effect! The plot of this book also is very intriguing..I am getting into books about angels and such so I can't wait to read this one!

The one bright spot is that Lincoln will be there. Sexy, mature and aloof, he is Violet’s idea of perfection. But why does he seem so reluctant to be anything more than a friend?

Suddenly, she can’t stand to be around him. Luckily, Phoenix, an exiled angel, has come into her life. He’s intense and enigmatic, but at least he never lied to her.

As Violet gets caught up in an ancient battle between dark and light, she must choose her path. The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity

New Girl by Paige Harbison Review

Name: New Girl
Publisher: HarlequinTeen
Release Date: January 31st, 2012
304 pages

Thanks to Netgalley and HarlequinTeen for giving me an ARC copy of this book!

They call me 'New Girl'...

Ever since I arrived at exclusive, prestigious Manderly Academy, that’s who I am. New girl. Unknown. But not unnoticed—because of her.

Becca Normandy—that’s the name on everyone’s lips. The girl whose picture I see everywhere. The girl I can’t compare to. I mean, her going missing is the only reason a spot opened up for me at the academy. And everyone stares at me like it’s my fault.

Except for Max Holloway—the boy whose name shouldn’t be spoken. At least, not by me. Everyone thinks of him as Becca’s boyfriend but she’s gone, and here I am, replacing her. I wish it were that easy. Sometimes, when I think of Max, I can imagine how Becca’s life was so much better than mine could ever be.

And maybe she’s still out there, waiting to take it back.
-Goodreads

My Review:
Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this book, but their were just some parts that were confusing for me and that I did not enjoy.
The "New Girl" arrives at Manderly Academy during her senior year after her parents sign her up to go to school their. I really liked seeing her try to fit in at this school but the comparisons to her and Rebecca were really strange for me. Nobody would see "the New Girl" as her own person and would think she was Rebecca. The even stranger part about this book was Rebecca's old roommate Dana. Dana was so insistent that Becca would be coming back to school, she was so mean and awful to "the New Girl" and I really could not stand that about this book. I really wish the other characters in the book would see "the New Girl" as her own person and not a copy of Rebecca and it was really hard for me to read that in this book.
I did really like however, the mystery to this book and seeing what might have happened to Rebecca.

In the end, I was not a huge fan of this book, but I am sure other readers will like it!

Follow Friday # 9

Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee!

Hi Everyone! I hope everyone has had a great week!

This Friday's question is:

Question: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends?

Answer: Wow this is a tough one!

From a YA and fantasy standpoint I would give Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson. Probably one of the best YA books that I read this year and I totally loved

I would also have to give my friends and family Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. I LOVE Greek Mythology and this is one of the best incorporation's of it that I have seen yet!

I would also have to give one of my favorite books ever to my family and friends this holiday season. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald has to be one of the best books that I have ever read! After reading it sophomore year in English, I felt that my eyes had been open and I learned so much through this amazing book!

One more book I would have to give is the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Also a favorite read of mine..and I want to share this book with everyone :)

Well as you can all tell I want to give so many great books to my family and friends this holiday season!
What do you all think and what do you want to give to your family and friends?

Illuminate by Aimee Agresti Review

Name: Illuminate
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Release Date: March 6th, 2012
544 pages
Thanks Netgalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for giving me an ARC copy of this book!

Haven Terra is a brainy, shy high school outcast. But everything begins to change when she turns sixteen. Along with her best friend Dante and their quiet and brilliant classmate Lance, she is awarded a prestigious internship in the big city— Chicago—and is sent to live and work at a swanky and stylish hotel under the watchful eyes of a group of gorgeous and shockingly young-looking strangers: powerful and alluring hotel owner Aurelia Brown; her second-in-command, the dashing Lucian Grove; and their stunning but aloof staff of glamazons called The Outfit.

As Haven begins falling for Lucian, she discovers that these beautiful people are not quite what they seem. With the help of a mysterious book, she uncovers a network of secret passageways from the hotel’s jazz-age past that leads her to the heart of the evil agenda of Aurelia and company: they’re in the business of buying souls. Will they succeed in wooing Haven to join them in their recruitment efforts, or will she be able to thwart this devilish set’s plans to take the souls of her classmates on prom night at the hotel?

Illuminate is an exciting saga of a teen’s first taste of independence, her experience in the lap of luxury, and her discovery she may possess strength greater than she ever knew.
-Goodreads

My Review:
Wow what an amazing read! Once I started this book I could not put it down, and I found myself staying up super late to get this one finished!

From the beginning of the book, I was very captivating by the story. Haven and her friend's new internship in Chicago had my very intrigued. There is a lot of mystery that surrounds this story and I never knew what was going to happen next! I was kept on my toes throughout the whole story which I loved!

Another aspect of this novel that I really liked was the paranormal part! At first, I thought this book was going to be all about Angels but I was wrong! I really liked the different paranormal aspects that Aimee used in this book and she was able to incorporate in in a fantastic way!

I also really enjoyed seeing the characters grow throughout this novel. Haven becomes such a strong and independent women throughout the book and I really liked seeing such a passionate character! Also, the romance in Illuminate is the perfect balance! Not too little, and not too much!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I HIGHLY recommend it! Make sure that it is in your tbr pile!

342 pages

From the moment she sets foot at her new school in Ireland, Megan is inexplicably drawn to the darkly handsome Adam DeRis. But Megan soon discovers that her feelings for Adam are tied to a supernatural fate that was sealed long ago—and that the passion and power that unites them could be their ultimate destruction.

This electrifying debut novel was first discovered on inkpop.com. the online community for aspiring writers. THE CARRIER OF THE MARK sizzles with unbridled romance, a unique supernatural hook, and a breathtaking Irish setting, and will entice fans of the Need series by Carrie Jones and the House of Night series by P. My Review:
What an awesome read! I really really enjoyed this one! When I picked it up last week from Barnes and Noble I could not put it down!
I really liked how this book was set in Ireland, I actually have never read any books set in Ireland so it was fun to imagine the main character Megan there!

One of my favorite parts of this book was the plot! I really enjoyed learning about the different supernatural elements in this book (I don't want to give anything away!) but it was really interested to see how the supernatural part mixed with the romance part. Ms. Fallon did a really great job of creating her own mythology in this book and I really enjoyed that!
One part that I did not really like was how Megan and Adam got together too quickly! I really wanted their romance to be spread out! Even though that bothered me I still liked seeing the two together and reading about their relationship!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I totally would recommend it to paranormal romance fans!

My Rating: Four out of Five Stars

Follow Friday # 8

Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee!

This Friday's question is:

Question: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

Answer: Hmmm this is a tough one! I am not a huge fan really predictable plots. I really like being kept on my toes and guessing about what is going to happen next in a book, instead of knowing right away the ending of the story!

Another thing that bothers me is certain love triangles, I don't have a huge problem with them but I wish that certain love triangles can be drawn out and the reader does not know who the main character is going to pick. I like surprises in books as you can tell :)

Well, what are your biggest pet peeves? What do you think of mine? Comment below and leave your links! And don't forget to follow! I always follow back :)
