Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton Review

Name: Darkness Becomes Her (Gods and Monsters # 1)
Publisher: Simon Pulse
320 Pages

Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.

Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.

She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very…different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.

Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.

My Review:

So I have heard some really great things about this book, so I decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad that I did! I really enjoyed this novel!

When I first started this novel I had know clue that it had Greek Mythology in it at all (which is one of my favorite things to read about) and I was surprised/happy to find that this book did!

I really liked the main character Ari! I loved seeing her journey throughout the novel to figure out who she was and I liked seeing her progress as a character.

Overall, if you like paranormal books/Greek mythology/romance, check this book out! You won't regret it!

My Rating: Five out of Five Stars

  1. I continuously hear great things about this book as well. I don't know why I haven't picked it up sooner! Especially since I love new takes on mythology. I'm forcing myself to put this in my shopping cart the next time I'm at the bookstore!

  3. Great review! I LOVE Greek mythology too! Was definitely my fave thing to learn about in school! I did remember hearing prior to reading this that it had Greek mythology elements, which was why I ended up reading it in the first place! So can't wait for the sequel!
