Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs Review

Name: Tempest Rising
Publisher: Walker Books for young readers
Release date: May 10th, 2011
352 pages

Tempest Maguire wants nothing more than to surf the killer waves near her California home; continue her steady relationship with her boyfriend, Mark; and take care of her brothers and surfer dad. But Tempest is half mermaid, and as her seventeenth birthday approaches, she will have to decide whether to remain on land or give herself to the ocean like her mother. The pull of the water becomes as insistent as her attraction to Kai, a gorgeous surfer whose uncanny abilities hint at an otherworldly identity as well. And when Tempest does finally give in to the water's temptation and enters a fantastical underwater world, she finds that a larger destiny awaits her—and that the entire ocean's future hangs in the balance.- Goodreads

My Review:
This was an AWESOME read!!! I have read lots of books about mermaids, and this book is definitely one of the best books that I have read!!

I really liked how the main character, Tempest, knew that she was already a mermaid and seeing her struggle with the choice to become a mermaid or stay human was very interesting.

I also loved the relationships in this novel!! It was fun to see different relationships progress throughout the book.

Overall this was a great summer read and you all should check it out!

My rating: Five out of Five Stars

  2. I've been wanting to read Tempest Rising for a LONG time, because, like you, I love mermaids. In fact, they're my favorite mythical creature EVER. Like, in the entire history of the world. I'm so glad to hear that Tempest Rising was good book! I'll definitely have to pick it up sometime soon.
