Summary:
Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

My Review:

What another awesome, wonderful, fantastic book by Jennifer L. Armentrout!  In addition to being the master of all things YA, JLA consistently writes books with amazing plots and even more amazing boys; and Wait For You did not disappoint!

I loved Avery and Cam's relationship!  Not only is Cam completely wonderful and (almost) perfect in every way possible, but he is also great for Avery.  Avery, who definitely has some major problems that still haunt her, is a strong yet reserved girl and protects her heart with an iron cage, and a lock and key for safe measure.  Cam knows this about her and continues to stick by her side, asking her out almost every day of the school year until she finally says agrees, giving her the time she needs to come to terms with him and how much she truly likes him.  I absolutely loved watching the two of them get to know each other as friends and people before rushing into a relationship; their witty banters and heated tension seemed so realistic in the way that all of JLA's characters and plots always do!

Besides excelling at romance and relationships, JLA also did a great job of tackling some real life issues in her book.  Both characters have had some troubling events in their pasts, and each of them (Avery, especially) are so used to hiding everything and trying to shove down bad thoughts and problems rather than dealing with them; as Avery says constantly throughout the book, her "fight or flight" response kicks in, and she always chooses flight.  Though it takes time for the two to adjust, they eventually learn to count on and trust each other so completely, and I loved watching both characters experience that.

One quick thing to note about this book is it's classification as New Adult, rather than Young Adult.  The only difference, it seems to me, is that it is a tad more explicit when it come to Avery and Cam's physical relationship.  Depending on your age, if that sort of thing bothers you then I would shy away from NA, since I am assuming that there will be a lot of that in other books like this.  Personally, I'm not sure how much all of these details actually added to the overall quality book, but I loved it nonetheless.

This is the first NA book that I have read, and if they are all as awesome as JLA's book, then I think I will have to check out some more NA in the future.  I loved loved loved the characters, the plot, and the writing, and everyone who loves romance, JLA, and great books should definitely check out Wait For You!

  6. There are books that entertain you and books that change you. Every once in a while, you get both. That's what this book was for me. I loved every second of it.
